How we make money

Health sites have an obvious incentive to send you somewhere that pays them. Here is exactly where our money does and does not come from, so you can judge everything else on the site against it.

Right now: nothing

We currently earn nothing from this site. There are no adverts, no affiliate links, no sponsorships, no paid placements and no data sales anywhere on AllHealth UK. Nobody pays us, and we are not paid to send you anywhere.

That is a statement of fact about today, not a promise about forever. It costs money to run a site, and we would like it to pay for itself eventually. What follows is exactly how we intend to do that, written down in advance so you can hold us to it.

What is planned

Affiliate links to UK health services — online GP appointments, at-home blood tests, online pharmacy and online therapy. If someone uses one of those links and buys something, the provider would pay us a commission. None of those arrangements is in place yet, which is why there are no such links on the site today.

Wherever one of those links appears, it carries this label, right next to it:

Paid link— meaning we may be paid if you use that link. It does not change what you pay.

A paid option is only ever an alternative, never the answer. For anything urgent the answer is NHS 111 online or your GP, both free, and that is what the page will tell you.

The rules we hold ourselves to

  • A free NHS route is always shown, and always shown first. A paid link never appears above the free option for the same problem.
  • No paid link ever appears alongside emergency advice. If a page is telling you to call 999 or 111, there is nothing to buy on that screen.
  • Every paid link is labelled as a paid link, next to the link, before you click it — not in a policy page you would have to go looking for.
  • Commission never decides what we recommend. What a page says about when to seek help is written from NHS and NICE guidance, before any commercial link is attached to it.
  • We never take money for editorial coverage — no paid mentions, no paid rankings, no sponsored guides, no links inserted into articles in exchange for payment.
  • We only list a price if we have checked it on the provider's own site, and we date it. If we cannot verify a price today, we do not print one.
  • Using a paid link never costs you more than going to the provider directly.
  • We do not sell your personal data, and we never have.

These are not aspirations we could quietly drop. The rule that free NHS routes come first is built into the component that renders every next-steps block on the site, and paid links cannot be switched on for a page without that block rendering the free options above them.

What we will not do to make money

  • Charging you to read anything on this site.
  • Putting content behind a sign-up or an email wall.
  • Selling or sharing your personal data.
  • Running pop-up or interstitial adverts over health content.
  • Taking a payment to say a service is good.

What we do with the small amount of data the site handles is set out in the privacy policy.

If you think we have broken one of these rules

Tell us and we will fix it. A paid link in the wrong place is a bug, and we treat it as one. Use the contact page and point us at the page.
